Construction Process:
1. Basic Treatment for Aging Walls
Primarily refers to the removal of existing wall finishes and decorations. Typically includes scraping off latex paint and joint compound, removing wooden trim, and dismantling other decorative items. If the wall has been decorated for only one to two years, the water-resistant joint compound on the wall may not need to be completely removed. After sanding and brushing the wall with steel wool, it can be repainted with latex paint.
2. Basic Steps for Renovating Old Walls
Step 1: Wall Cleaning
Before renovating the old walls, the first step is to treat the wall base. For walls with severe flaking, remove all the old paint. After removal, apply a coat of white cement. For walls previously painted and overly smooth, sanding is necessary after removal to remove loose, adherent surfaces, facilitating better bonding with the new coating.
Step 2: Apply Base Coat
The role of wall primer is to seal the base material, resist alkali and moisture, and protect the topcoat, enhancing the texture and coverage of the topcoat. For renovation of old houses, it is essential to apply wall primer. If topcoat is applied directly, over time, the wall may develop blisters and mold, and it may also fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Three Steps: Large-Scale Repair
Repainting finished walls can be troublesome, prone to color discrepancies, with varying material usage times and uncertain quality, which cannot guarantee the desired outcome. Therefore, it's best to repair the entire wall or opt for large-area repairs as much as possible to minimize color variations.
Four Steps: Color Difference Prevention
Please follow the instructions on the paint can for mixing and applying the paint, and ensure accurate measurement of the amount used. Prepare enough in one go to maintain consistent wall color and avoid discrepancies in the re-mixed color.
