Forsythia prefers full sun and has a certain degree of shade tolerance; it thrives in warm, moist climates and is also cold-resistant; it withstands drought and poor soil but fears waterlogging; it is adaptable to various soil types, growing normally in neutral, slightly acidic, or alkaline soils. It is commonly found in shrublands on slopes, under forests, or in grasslands, as well as in sparse forests in valleys and ravines. It can grow normally at altitudes of 250m to 2200m, with average temperatures ranging from 12.1°C to 17.3°C, but it grows best in locations with abundant sunlight, deep, fertile, and moist soil conditions.
