Slope protection netting is a protective device used in highway and railway landslides. It is categorized into active and passive protection. Slope protection netting is also known as slope retaining net.

Active Protection System primarily uses flexible nets, mainly made of steel wire ropes, to cover and encase the slopes or rocks requiring protection, to limit the weathering and spalling or destruction of the slope rock and soil mass, as well as the collapse of dangerous rocks (reinforcement effect), or to control the movement of falling rocks within a certain range (retaining effect).
