What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel, in layman's terms, is steel that doesn't rust easily.

"Stainless steel" refers not just to a single type of stainless steel, but to over a hundred industrial grades, each with varying chemical compositions and processing techniques. Each grade of stainless steel excels in its specific application fields. As shown in the following illustration, different grades of stainless steel have distinct chemical compositions.
