The梅花coupling, also known as a claw coupling, is a widely used type of coupling, consisting of two metal claw disks and an elastic element. The metal claw disks are typically made of 45# steel, but aluminum alloy is also used for applications requiring high load sensitivity.

Couplings, also known as couplings, are mechanical components used to firmly connect the driving and driven shafts of different mechanisms for simultaneous rotation, while transmitting motion and torque. They are sometimes also used to connect shafts to other parts (such as gears, pulleys, etc.). Typically, they are composed of two halves, connected by keys or tight fits, secured at both ends of the shafts, and then joined together in some manner. Couplings can compensate for misalignments between the shafts due to manufacturing and installation inaccuracies, deformation during operation, or thermal expansion (including axial, radial, angular, or combined misalignments); as well as mitigate impacts and absorb vibrations.

Most commonly used couplings are standardized or specificationized. Generally, it is only necessary to correctly select the type of coupling, determine the model and size of the coupling. In case of necessity, load capacity calculations can be performed on the vulnerable weak points. When the rotational speed is high, centrifugal forces on the outer periphery and deformation of elastic elements should be verified, and balance checks should be conducted.
