Insulators are made by gluing ceramic components with upper and lower metal attachments using an adhesive. Elastic pads are placed between the ceramic components' end surfaces and the glued metal attachment contact areas. The ceramic component gluing sections feature structures such as sandblasting, knurling, and grooving to ensure mechanical strength, prevent loosening, and twisting. The ceramic surface is evenly coated with white glaze, and the metal attachments are painted with gray magnetic paint.
The main structure of insulator porcelain components includes cavity partition (penetrable) and solid (non-penetrable) structures. The combined胶装支柱insulator is typically solid and non-penetrable. This latter structure offers higher safety and reliability compared to the former, reducing maintenance and testing workload.
The insulator porcelain pieces come in two shapes: with more or fewer棱. The multi-棱 shape increases the surface distance, offering better electrical performance compared to the fewer-棱 shape. All products except for the gradually being phased out extruded-jacketed pole insulators are of the multi-棱 design.
An internal rubber-encased structure, as the metal accessories are inserted into the porcelain parts' holes, it correspondingly increases the insulation distance and enhances electrical performance. At the same time, it reduces the space occupied during installation. However, due to the negative effect of the internal rubber-encased structure on mechanical strength, insulators with high mechanical strength requirements are better suited for a combined rubber-encased structure (i.e., the upper accessories use internal rubber-encasing, while the lower accessories use external rubber-encasing).
High-voltage line disc-shaped suspension porcelain insulators are used for insulation and wire fixation in high-voltage overhead transmission and distribution lines. They are generally assembled into insulator strings for use on lines of various voltage levels.
Standard insulators are suitable for general areas; increasing the number of insulator discs can also enhance the dust flash performance if necessary.
Suspended porcelain insulators are assembled using porcelain pieces, iron caps, and steel feet, bonded with cement of not less than 525 grade silicate and quartz sand adhesive. The contact surfaces of the iron caps and steel feet with the adhesive are coated with a thin buffering layer, and the top of the steel feet features an elastic pad. The porcelain pieces are typically glazed with white or brown glaze, or other glazes as required. Both the iron caps and steel feet are fully hot-dipped galvanized. The push-pull type elastic locking pins for spherical connections come in W and R types, both made of tin bronze, brass, and austenitic stainless steel, offering good elasticity and corrosion resistance, and easy assembly and disassembly. The cylindrical and saddle-shaped open pins for groove connections, the former being hot-dipped galvanized and the latter made of brass. The above elastic locking pins and cylindrical pins, etc., are zero insulators, divided into spherical and groove types based on the connection method.
Standard and dirt-resistant insulators of the same strength grade, with identical ball socket connection dimensions, are interchangeable.
