Cultivation Techniques for五彩石竹
Planting Methods
The Common Stone Bamboo is propagated commonly through sowing, cutting, and division. Seed germination temperature is 21 to 22°C. Sowing propagation is generally carried out in September. Sow in open seedbeds, keep the potting soil moist, and the seedlings will germinate in 5 days and emerge in about 10 days. The optimal growing temperature for seedlings is 10-20°C. Seedlings can be transplanted when they have 4-5 leaves, and they will bloom the following spring. It can also be sown directly in the open field in September or sown in cold frames in November-December, then transplanted outdoors in April the following year. Cuttings are propagated from late October to late February or early March, using 5-6 cm long new shoots as cuttings, with the main root emerging in 15-20 days. Division propagation is often done after flowering by dividing old plants, which can be done in autumn or early spring. For instance, division can be done in April, and during summer, attention should be given to drainage. After September, strengthen the fertilization and watering management, and expect to flower again by early October.
