Description

Inorganic fiber spray is a new type of environmentally friendly building coating, primarily composed of inorganic fibers and water-based adhesives. After mixing, it is sprayed through an air compressor and mixed with atomized water to form a coating on the material requiring protection. This coating meets the requirements for sound absorption, thermal insulation, and fire protection. The material is lightweight, odorless, non-toxic, with good sound absorption and weather resistance, excellent thermal insulation, and reliable fire resistance, providing over 5 hours of high fire resistance protection. It is suitable for fire protection in buildings and tunnels, especially for high-rise steel structures with high fire resistance requirements. It is also applicable to thermal insulation and sound absorption in buildings and energy-saving insulation of mechanical equipment.

Rigid Spray Coating

As fiber spray technology develops and becomes widespread in China, its applications are increasingly diverse. Designers and property owners are also demanding higher standards for spray technology and finished products. The weak impact and adhesion resistance of common spray products, as well as their sensitivity to water and humid environments, call for a new generation of spray products that can adapt to various site conditions. In 2008, the hard inorganic fiber spray technology, originally from Japan, was introduced to China by New Times Industry.

Key Operations

1. Raw Material Appearance Quality Inspection

Prior to construction, sampling inspections should be conducted on the spray fibrous cotton and adhesive. The fibrous cotton should be dry and free of lumps, clean and white without any impurities, and the adhesive should be free of delamination, foaming, deterioration, and discoloration.

2. Surface Preparation for Coating

(1) Surface Preparation for Painting: Clean the painted surface of dust and dirt using compressed air or clean water; inspect the hanging and embedded parts for stability, securing any loose components. If the original surface is damaged or has severe cracks, repairs should be made first.

(2) Protect and shield doors, windows, various equipment, pipelines, and areas not to be sprayed. Block the spray areas and ventilation pipeline openings.

(3) Clear away obstacles from the work surface to ensure smooth movement and safety for the spray hand, and maintain the appropriate spray distance and angle.

3. Material Formulation and Tuning

(1) Disperse and compress the fiber cotton, continuously fill the spray cotton into the spray machine, and ensure an adequate supply of fiber material in the material box.

(2) A dedicated person is responsible for diluting the adhesive concentrate according to the spray adhesive instructions using clean water in a professional配套 container (a 200-liter plastic container equipped with a high-speed stirrer). The mixing ratio is strictly controlled, and water should not be added arbitrarily to dilute. The electric stirrer should be continuously operated to ensure even mixing for at least 5 minutes. Each container is mixed individually as needed, to prevent the adhesive from freezing and becoming ineffective.

4. Preliminary surface priming: After cleaning the base surface, apply the pre-mixed adhesive spray evenly, ensuring adequate and consistent coverage without dripping.

5. Fiber Coating

(1) Calibration of spray equipment should be strictly adhered to the equipment's operation manual, adjusting the air pressure of the spray main unit, the pressure of the胶泵, and the feeding device. Through trial spraying with samples, measuring the liquid flow rate and cotton output, gradually adjust the air pressure range and feeding mixing speed until the fiber spray state stabilizes, meeting the requirements of the spraying process.

(2) Verify and align with the drawings to determine the locations for fiber spray coating, and mark and provide necessary protection for non-sprayed areas.

(3) Place thickness gauges (blocks) in sections and then proceed with the coating. The spraying angle should meet technical requirements to achieve greater pressure and less rebound. Coating with a thickness less than 100mm can be applied in a single coat.

(4) Surface finishing of the coating: After the surface of the product to be coated dries for about half an hour, use different shaping tools such as foam rollers, aluminum rollers, pressure plates, or aluminum alloy rulers, based on the specific requirements of thermal insulation or acoustic engineering.

(5) A bonding agent finish coat is sprayed onto the surface of the整形 products to enhance surface strength. If surface coloring is required per design, the color paste can be sprayed after the finish coat is completed.

(6) The construction site after spraying should be cleaned up promptly, removing rebound material from the site and dismantling protective coatings, etc.

Protect and Precautions

For the insulated sound-absorbing layer after painting, a well-ventilated and dry environment should be provided. Typically, at an average temperature of 25°C and relative humidity ≤60%, the drying and curing time for different thicknesses ranges from 24 to 72 hours. Afterward, decorative and other processes can be carried out.

Coating Finish Protection

Prior to spraying, install various pipeline, ductwork, and other hanging equipment to avoid drilling or chiseling into the base surface after the spraying is completed.

Avoid mechanical impact and rain wash during the drying and curing period of the painted product.

In the event of localized damage to the coating due to collision, a local repair should be conducted. For areas frequently susceptible to mechanical impacts, apply glass fiber cloth or other protective materials to protect the surface of the fiber layer.

Maintain a clean environment in the painting area to prevent dust from rising and contaminating the finished product's coating surface. During the painting process, operators should comply with national labor protection regulations by wearing dust masks, and those working at heights should wear safety belts and other protective equipment.
