904L stainless steel
Super Austenitic stainless steel (904L stainless steel plate) is a low-carbon, high-alloyed Austenitic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance in dilute sulfuric acid, specifically designed for harsh corrosive environments. It boasts high chromium and sufficient nickel content, with added copper providing strong resistance to acidity, particularly against intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It is less prone to pitting and cracking, exhibits slightly better resistance to pitting corrosion than other steel grades, and has good machinability and weldability, making it suitable for pressure vessels.
904L (N08904, 14539) is a super-austenitic stainless steel containing 14.0-18.0% chromium, 24.0-26.0% nickel, and 4.5% molybdenum. It is a low-carbon, high-nickel and molybdenum austenitic acid-resistant steel, exclusively introduced by France's H.S. Company. It boasts excellent activation-passivation transition capabilities, excellent corrosion resistance, and good resistance to corrosion in non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, and phosphoric acid. It also exhibits excellent resistance to pitting corrosion in neutral chloride-containing media, along with good resistance to crevice and stress corrosion. Suitable for various concentrations of sulfuric acid below 70°C, it maintains corrosion resistance in any concentration and temperature of acetic acid under atmospheric pressure, as well as in mixtures of formic acid and acetic acid.
