Wire rope nets are primarily composed of flexible high-strength steel wire ropes (including diamond wire rope nets, circular nets, and high-strength steel wire grating), supplemented by accessories such as anchor rods and support ropes to form the complete system. They are used to cover and secure slopes to prevent hazards such as rockfall, rolling, and flying stones from blasting.

The system evenly distributes forces around to fully utilize the overall protective capabilities, meaning local loading with overall effect. This allows the system to bear greater loads while reducing the anchoring force requirements for individual anchors. Moreover, due to the system's openness, groundwater can freely drain, preventing instability issues caused by increased groundwater pressure. Besides contributing to slope stability, the system also inhibits further weathering and erosion of the slope, without any special requirements for the slope's morphological characteristics. It does not disrupt or alter the original landform and vegetation growth conditions of the slope. Its open nature preserves the necessary conditions for implementing artificial slope greening in subsequent or future circumstances where conditions are favorable and necessary.
