During handling, ballast cast iron manhole covers and storm grates should be handled with care to avoid damage.
2. The manhole cover must be installed with the top facing up; if the bottom is up, the cover's load-bearing capacity will be compromised and may be damaged. Allow for expansion gaps; if the manhole cover or storm grate does not come with a frame, ensure there is an expansion gap for the product (the total gap width is generally 3-5mm). When installing the manhole cover on asphalt surfaces, be cautious of the construction machinery directly compacting the base. During the overall casting of the surface, leave a hole slightly larger than the base. Place the asphalt, then install the cover. Ensure the quality of the cover installation to extend its service life.
The well shaft must be sturdy. If it is not, there is a possibility of the entire well shaft sinking or poor integration with the surrounding road surface, forming a "messy ring." The well frame must be securely fastened, and concrete must be poured at the bottom and around the frame. The width of the concrete around the well frame should be no less than 200mm, and the concrete at the bottom of the frame should be no less than 150mm.
4. The surface of the manhole cover is level with the surrounding ground. It is first cast with concrete of C20 grade or higher, and after the manhole frame is securely fastened, asphalt is then laid over it. If the manhole cover and frame are merely placed or loosely fastened in the well, the frame can be damaged.
