Due to this, over 300 residents living near the factory were urgently evacuated. A worker from Tianmei Dyeing and Weaving Co. explained that due to the lightning strike, the chimney is now unusable, and the company has temporarily halted production. "This chimney was originally built by the predecessor of the dyeing and weaving group, Wenzhou Dyeing Factory, in the late 1970s, standing 130 meters tall, and had never been struck by lightning before," a manager from Wenzhou Dyeing and Weaving Group told the journalist. "After the chimney, which has been in use for over 30 years, is demolished, it is very likely that a new chimney will be constructed. Currently, there are two types of chimneys available: stainless steel with water film dust removal and dry spiral dust removal. The type to be built will be decided in consultation with the users."
