As the formation fluid enters the three-phase separator, it first encounters the inlet divider, which provides an initial separation of the liquid from the gas, with the gas carrying a large number of liquid droplets.

After further separation through the coalescing plate, the gas is then purified even more by passing through a defoamer and a demister, becoming dry gas before being discharged from the exhaust outlet.
