The Common Iris is a perennial evergreen herb of the Iris genus, bred through hybridization of species such as Iris hexagona, Iris giganticae, and Iris brevuilei. Its rhizome is horizontally spreading and fleshy, with basal leaves growing densely, measuring about 2 cm wide and 40 to 60 cm long, featuring parallel veins and thick, leathery texture. The spike is upright and robust, towering above the foliage to a height of 60 to 100 cm. The petals are 6, with colors ranging from purple-red, bright red, pink, deep blue, to white, with a diameter of approximately 16 to 18 cm.
