Electricity steel poles are made from polygonal steel tubes, round steel tubes, etc., and are coated with hot-dipped galvanized or hot-sprayed zinc (and zinc alloy) for corrosion protection. They are mainly used for electric line installation and serve as alternative products to traditional concrete poles.
Advantages of Electric Steel Poles:
1) Electric steel poles have a small footprint. A small footprint is a major advantage of steel poles, as traditional transmission towers and guyed towers both have the drawback of occupying a large area. However, under the current market economy conditions, land prices continue to rise, making it increasingly difficult to allocate land for transmission, with growing investments. Moreover, in some special areas, such as city center districts, there are no conditions to establish transmission towers. This is where steel poles become an excellent choice for transmission construction. Steel poles have a small footprint, typically about 1/3 of a self-supporting tower, and their top dimensions are much smaller than those of towers, requiring a smaller airway corridor. Therefore, steel poles generally meet various environmental requirements and save on land costs. 2) Aesthetically pleasing design. This is another major advantage of steel poles. With the current trend of urban construction and city transformation, the aesthetics and livability of cities are increasingly of concern to residents. Consequently, urban construction places higher demands on the aesthetics of power line installations, especially for scenic roadways where the requirements are stricter. Traditional towers struggle to meet these demands, but steel poles, due to their compact structure and attractive, small appearance, can generally satisfy aesthetic requirements. 3) Simple and quick construction. Establishing a traditional iron tower requires a tower assembly process, whether it's a whole assembly or a segmented one, the construction period is roughly the same. In contrast, steel pole construction does not require assembly, just install the cross arm and then set up the pole. The construction speed is much faster than that of iron towers. Typically, a construction crew can set up 1.5 to 2 iron towers a day, but can install about 10 steel poles in a day. Therefore, using steel poles can significantly improve construction efficiency and shorten the construction period. 4) Steel poles are less prone to theft. Material loss has always been a major issue affecting the safe operation of iron towers, despite certain preventive measures like installing anti-theft bolts below 6 meters. However, material loss still occurs occasionally. Steel poles, being either fully inserted or flange-connected, essentially solve the problem of lost components, reduce potential accidents, and improve the health of the power lines. In addition to the above advantages, electric steel poles also have the benefits of a short production cycle and the ability to withstand greater stresses.
