Electric steel poles are made from steel materials like polygonal steel tubes and round steel tubes, and are coated with hot-dip galvanized or hot-sprayed zinc (and zinc alloys) for corrosion resistance. They are mainly used for electric line installation and serve as alternative products to traditional concrete poles.
Advantages of Electric Steel Poles:
1) The steel pole occupies less land area. The small land occupation is a major advantage of steel poles. Traditional transmission towers and guyed towers both have the drawback of occupying a large area. However, under the current market economic conditions, land prices continue to rise, making it increasingly difficult to occupy land for transmission, with increasing investment. Moreover, in some special areas, such as urban central districts, it is impossible to build transmission towers. This is where steel poles become an excellent choice for transmission construction. Steel poles occupy less land, generally about 1/3 of the area of self-supporting towers. Additionally, the top size of the steel pole is much smaller than that of a tower, so the required air corridor is also smaller. Therefore, steel poles can generally meet various environmental requirements and save on land costs. 2) The steel pole has an aesthetically pleasing design. This is another major advantage of steel poles. In the current trend of urban construction and city transformation, the aesthetics and livability of the city are increasingly concerns for residents. Consequently, the requirements for the aesthetics of power line construction are getting higher, especially for urban landscape roads, where the requirements are more stringent. Traditional towers struggle to meet these requirements. Steel poles, due to their compact structure and attractive, small appearance, can generally satisfy aesthetic requirements. 3) The steel pole construction is simple and quick. Constructing a traditional tower requires a tower assembly process, whether it's a complete assembly or a segmented assembly, the construction period is roughly the same. In contrast, steel pole construction does not require an assembly process; after the steel pole crossarm is installed, the pole can be assembled as a whole. The construction speed is much faster than that of tower construction. Generally, a construction team can assemble 1.5 to 2 towers in a day, but can install about 10 steel poles in a day, significantly improving construction efficiency and shortening the construction period. 4) The steel pole material is less prone to theft. The loss of tower materials has always been a major issue affecting the safe operation of towers, despite certain preventive measures such as installing anti-theft bolts below 6 meters. However, the loss of tower materials still occurs occasionally. Steel poles, being either interlocked or flanged, basically solve the issue of lost components, reduce potential accidents, and improve the health level of the transmission lines. In addition to the above advantages, steel poles also have the benefits of a short production cycle and the ability to withstand greater stresses.
