    Abandoned lithium-ion batteries contain a significant amount of non-renewable and economically valuable metals. The cathode material in lithium-ion batteries is lithium cobalt oxide powder, while the anode material is graphite powder. Both the cathode and anode contain large amounts of metals such as nickel, copper, and aluminum. Effective recycling and processing of discarded or substandard lithium-ion batteries can not only alleviate the environmental pressure from waste batteries but also prevent the waste of valuable metals like cobalt and nickel. How do lithium-ion battery recycling systems handle cathode and anode sheets?

    Method/Step

    The pellets are conveyed to the crusher by a conveyor belt, where they are milled to 15-25 mesh.

    The material processed by the shredder is then transported to the analyser, which separates the shredded material through air classification, separating metal materials and graphite powder. The collected graphite powder is transported to the aggregate device by an induced draft fan, and the exhaust gas in the aggregate device is purified by a pulse filter before being discharged.

    The metal material analyzed by the machine is fed into a grading sieve for separation. The grading sieve further segregates the metal materials, separating graphite powder and the metallic fraction. The graphite powder output from the grading sieve is drawn through a blower to a collection bin. The copper powder sifted from the grading sieve is then fed into a magnetic separator, which separates the nickel from the copper powder.


    Other materials sifted through a grading screen enter the density separator via the outlet, where they are separated by density. This process further segregates copper powder and graphite powder. The separated graphite powder is then collected by the accumulator through an induced draft fan.
