The giant cliff carving statue of the Tang Dynasty's renowned pastoral poet Meng Haoran is located in the Meng Haoran Cultural Tourism Zone to the east of Xiangcheng District's Fenghuang Mountain. The statue stands 60 meters tall and is about 139 meters long.
The two cliff-side stone statues were both designed by the renowned Chinese sculptor Nie Chengxing and produced by Hebei Xintai Garden Architecture Sculpture Co., Ltd.

Meng Haoran in the sculpture is depicted in a semi-reclining posture. Behind his head is a stone carving of bamboo, in front of his right side is a stone carving of a desk and a brush, and in the front left is the famous five-character poem "Spring Dawn" carved in stone.

Meng Haoran, a native of Xiangyang, is affectionately known as Meng Xiangyang, a renowned Tang Dynasty poet of the landscape and rural school. Yan Mountain was a significant spot for Meng Haoran and his friends to visit multiple times, including the famous poem "Visit Yan Mountain with Companions." Therefore, creating a cliff-carved statue of Meng Haoran at Yan Mountain is highly fitting.

It's understood that the cliff-carved statue of Meng Haoran was once a quarry at a farm, which was abandoned by the end of the 20th century. Years of blasting the mountainside left it riddled with holes, turning it into the "skin rash" of the city's southern gateway. After discussions among experts and scholars, a restoration plan was adopted, based on carving statues into the mountain. They analyzed the natural conditions of the landscape here, deciding to utilize the existing "cliff conditions" and captured cultural essence to build the cliff-carved statues of Meng Haoran and Fu Xi, transforming the damaged mountainside into a masterpiece of earth art.

On the right cliff of the Meng Haoran cliff carvings, a cliff carving mountain head of Fu Xi, 79 meters high and about 268 meters long, has been constructed. The two groups of cliff carvings, including the Fu Xi and Meng Haoran cliff carvings, total over 60,000 cubic meters of stone.
