Daily Inspection Precautions for Variable Frequency Power Supplies

Before powering on the variable frequency power supply, check the surrounding temperature and humidity first. If the low-voltage load is not disconnected before switching off, an arc may occur during operation, posing risks to personal and equipment safety. The moment of switching off may also cause abnormal voltage fluctuations, polluting the power grid. Excessive heat may trigger overheat alarms in the variable frequency power supply, leading to severe damage to power devices and circuit short-circuits. Excessive humidity may cause direct short-circuits within the power supply.

During the operation of variable frequency power supplies, attention should be paid to the cooling system's functionality, such as the air flow through the ducts and whether there are any abnormal sounds from the fans. Generally, variable frequency power supplies with higher protection ratings, such as those above IP20, can be installed directly without a cabinet. For those below IP20, cabinet installation is typically required, thus the cooling effect of the cabinet will directly impact the normal operation of the variable frequency power supply. Under the condition of various low-voltage circuit breakers being closed, directly closing the low-voltage main switch may cause arcing and harm people; the operation of low-voltage closing should be done standing on an insulating mat. It is essential to first close the low-voltage main switch, followed by the low-voltage branch circuit breakers. The variable frequency power supply's exhaust system, such as the smooth rotation of fans and the presence of dust or obstructions in the intake, are all critical aspects that should not be overlooked during our daily inspections.

Are the motor reactors and frequency converters overheating or emitting odors? Do the frequency converters and motors produce any unusual noises? Is the current display on the frequency converter panel too high or does the current fluctuation range too large? Is the output UVW three-phase voltage and current balanced?
