Polypropylene geotextiles mainly include woven geotextiles, non-woven geotextiles, and Asia-Pacific composite geotextiles. Woven geotextiles are further divided into machine-woven and braided geotextiles.

Polypropylene Geotextile Features:

1- Polypropylene woven geotextile is produced on wide-width shuttle looms or rapier, air-jet, and other non-shuttle looms.

Polypropylene woven geotextiles are particularly suitable for enhancing and reinforcing, making them ideal for applications such as separation, reinforcement, and erosion control. Woven geotextiles are generally applicable in these scenarios.

Nonwoven Polypropylene Geotextile

Nonwoven geotextiles are generally produced on continuous production lines. Polypropylene nonwoven geotextiles are mainly categorized into two production methods: spunbonding and needle-punched short fiber.

Polypropylene geotextile production method:

Spunbond method

Melt the particles or powder of the polymer, then feed it into an extruder, which spins it into a continuous filament bundle through one or a series of spinnerets. Use rotating spinnerets, controlled air flow, adjusting conveyor belt speed, or applying electricity to create an irregular arrangement of the filaments, laying them out on a conveyor belt to form a fiber mat. The bonding of the fiber mat occurs while the filaments are still in a liquid state, using heat pressing, adhesive agents, or needle-punching to reinforce, resulting in a continuous and uniform geotextile. It can be used for reinforcement, separation, filtration, and drainage in various engineering applications.

2- Short Fiber针刺法

Short fibers are processed into cotton web by carding machines or cotton opening machines, then laid in cross-layers or directly formed into a web by air flow, resulting in a cotton web with randomly arranged fibers to achieve isotropy when woven into fabric. The web is then subjected to needle-punching by a group or several groups of pins, causing the fibers to intertwine and compress together, forming a nonwoven fabric. This method is suitable for producing thick geotextiles, characterized by high density, fluffy structure, thickness, good water absorption and permeability, and high resistance to deformation, making it particularly suitable for filtration and drainage projects.
