    Certainly, in recent years, the development of our country's highways has been rapid, leading to a surge in fuel stations, which has also provided a new market for explosion-proof motors. Considering the current environmental factors, in terms of safety, explosion-proof motors are superior to standard motors.

     

    Now, let's summarize the differences between explosion-proof motors and standard motors:

    1. Explosion-proof motors are completely sealed, preventing any gas from entering the motor's interior, including the junction box, to avoid electrical sparks causing gas explosions. The requirements for explosion-proof motors in terms of electromagnetic design, dust-proof structure, wiring methods, insulation protection level, resistance to moisture and mild corrosion, and internal wire connection methods, etc., are all higher than those for standard motors.
    2. The sealing of explosion-proof motor junction boxes is superior to that of ordinary motors.
    3. Explosion-proof motors have the lowest protection grade of IP55, whereas standard motors come in various grades such as IP23, IP44, IP54, IP55, and IP56. Therefore, they can be distinguished by their appearance.

    1. Flame-retardant electric motor

    It employs an explosion-proof housing to isolate the electrical components that may generate sparks, arcs, and dangerous temperatures from the surrounding explosive gas mixtures. However, this housing is not airtight; explosive gas mixtures can enter the motor's interior through gaps at the interfaces of the housing's various parts. When they come into contact with ignition sources such as sparks, arcs, or dangerous high temperatures inside the housing, explosions may occur. In such cases, the motor's explosion-proof housing not only remains undamaged or deformed but also prevents the flame or hot gases from igniting the surrounding explosive gas mixtures as they pass through the interface gaps.

     

    The basic series of widely used low-voltage explosion-proof motor products in our country is the YB series explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motor, which is a derivative product of the Y series (IP44) three-phase asynchronous motor. Its explosion-proof performance complies with the requirements of GB3836.1-83 "General Requirements for Explosion-Proof Electrical Equipment Used in Explosive Environments" and GB3836.2-83 "Explosion-Proof Electrical Equipment Used in Explosive Environments - Explosion-Proof Electrical Equipment of Type 'd'". The motor power range is 0.55-200kW, with corresponding foundation frame sizes ranging from 80-315mm in center height; the explosion-proof markings are dI, dIIAT4, dIIBT4, suitable for fixed installations in coal mine environments or factory II A, IIB grade, for flammable gases or vapors in the temperature groups T1-T4 mixed with air; the main housing protection grade is IP44, and can also be made IP65, with the terminal box protection grade being IP54; the rated frequency is 50Hz, and the rated voltages are 380, 660, 1140, 380/660, 660/140V; the motor insulation grade is F, but the stator winding temperature rise is evaluated at B level, providing a significant temperature rise margin. The main models of the derived series of low-voltage explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motors include: YB series (dIIcT4) with center heights of 80-315mm, YBSO series (small power, center heights of 63-90mm), YBF series (for fans, center heights of 63-160mm), YB-H series (marine, center heights of 80-280mm), YB series (medium size, center heights of 355-450mm), YBK series (for coal mines, center heights of 100-315mm), YB-W, B-TH, YB-WTH series (center heights of 80-315mm), YBDF-WF series (for outdoor corrosion-resistant explosion-proof electric valves, center heights of 80-315mm), and YBDC series (explosion-proof capacitor-start single-phase asynchronous motors, center heights of 71-100mm) and YBZS series explosion-proof double-speed three-phase asynchronous motors for lifting applications. Additionally, there is the YB series high-voltage explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motor with center heights of 355-450mm and 560-710mm. The YB2 series, co-designed by the industry, has passed national assessment by the end of Q4 and will gradually replace the YB series to become the basic series of explosion-proof three-phase asynchronous motors in our country. The YB2 series consists of 15 foundation frame sizes (center heights of 63, 355mm) and a power range of 0.12-315kW.

    Key features include:
    (1) The power rating, installation dimensions, and speed correspond to DIN42673, while also taking into account the inheritance with the YB series and Y2The series' interchangeability has been adjusted for improved effectiveness and applicability.
    (2) The entire series features F-grade insulation with temperature rise evaluated according to B-grade standards.
    (3) The noise limit is lower than that of the YB series, approaching the noise level of the YB series' I grade, and the vibration limit is comparable to the YB series.
    (4) The shell protection rating has been upgraded to IP55.
    (5) The entire series features low-noise deep groove ball bearings, with motor bases over 180mm in height equipped with oil injection and drainage devices.
    (6) The heat sinks for motors come in two types: parallel horizontal distribution and radiating distribution, with the parallel horizontal distribution being the predominant design.
    (7) The main performance indicators have reached the internationally advanced level of the early 1990s.

    Of course, an explosion-proof motor is a motor design that, under normal operating conditions, does not produce arcs, sparks, or dangerous high temperatures. By implementing additional mechanical, electrical, and thermal protection measures, it further prevents the risk of arcs, sparks, or high temperatures under normal or approved overload conditions, thereby ensuring its防爆safety.
