Proper use and maintenance of generators can extend their lifespan.
Pre-Startup Preparations:
1. Data center operators must adhere to safety operation procedures, wear work uniforms and insulating shoes, and the crew should have clear divisions of labor.
2. Inspect the flywheel and generator sections for any damaged guard covers.
3. Inspect all transmissions, clutches, governors, oil levels, and fasteners, ensuring they are in good condition. Start the engine only when oil and water temperatures are not below 20 degrees.
4. Set all system pipeline gates to the "operational" position.
5. Inspect and tighten the linkage bolts of the transmission mechanism.
6. Check if the clutch handle pressure is normal and whether the over-speed safety device is properly positioned.
7. Check if the gas cylinder pressure is normal and whether the overspeed safety device is properly positioned.
Open the drain valve of the air pump.
9. Inspect the circulatory pump, oil pump, and fuel pump for proper operation.
Step the excitation resistor to the highest resistance position and disconnect the power supply switch.
Startup and Operation Procedures:
For units that have been shut down for over 24 hours, the trial valve must first be opened, and the engine oil pump must be started.
For units that have been shut down for more than 7 days, the insulation resistance of the exciter and the operating circuit should be measured and must meet the requirements.
Start the fuel pump, release the air from the pipeline, and check if the voltage is within the specified range. If normal, proceed with the official start-up.
Check if the starting power supply voltage meets the requirements. If the voltage is normal, press the start button and release it once the diesel engine operates normally.
4. After the diesel engine starts running, observe the readings on the oil pressure gauge. When it reaches above the specified value, stop the oil pump, close the exhaust pump drain valve, and tighten the front clutch bolt.
Once the generator starts up, it is considered that both the generator and all electrical equipment are energized; physical contact with live parts is prohibited.
After the generator starts, the speed of the diesel engine should be gradually increased, and a pre-power-on inspection should be conducted.
7. Gradually adjust the diesel engine's RPM, but pay attention to observe the generator's operation for any abnormalities. When operating normally, the brushes on the commutator and slip rings should not exhibit any jumping, sparking, or unusual noises.
8. Adjust the generator's output voltage and frequency, ensuring the voltage remains stable at 380V ± 10V and the frequency reaches 50Hz ± 0.5Hz.
