Overview

In the case of laser-plasma coaxial composite welding technology, the resulting heat source is a plasma arc enveloping a laser, possessing both laser and plasma characteristics. We refer to it as the photo-plasma arc.


Laser welding is at the forefront of current welding technology. Laser welding offers high efficiency, minimal distortion, and a large depth-to-width ratio, allowing for precise control and easy automation. However, there are limitations, such as high assembly requirements for workpieces, high energy consumption, and difficulty in welding high reflectivity materials like aluminum and copper. For high reflectivity materials, a combination of laser and plasma can help recycle some of the lost laser energy back into the process of melting the metal, quickly melting the metal into a normal welding state.


Plasma arc welding is a relatively mature welding technique, with the advantage of being easy to achieve high-quality welds but with the drawback of low efficiency. Laser-plasma coaxial hybrid welding technology, compared to plasma arc welding, has a more concentrated energy, higher arc energy density, more stable arc, and improved resistance to electromagnetic interference and wind. The laser-plasma hybrid welding technology integrates the characteristics of both laser and plasma, offering advantages such as high weld reproducibility, high welding quality, high efficiency, minimal deformation, and fewer defects.
