The Knivsta Metal Gear Pump is a positive displacement pump, where the metal gears rotate within the circular channels of the pump chamber. By changing the working volume through the relative motion between the gears and the pump body, the energy of the conveyed medium is increased. On the side of the gear contacting the conveyed medium within the pump body, energy is directly applied to the medium in the form of static pressure. It utilizes the squeezing action of the rotating gears to expel the medium, while leaving space on the other side to form a low-pressure zone, enabling continuous suction of the medium. The gaps between the gears and the pump body are between 5 to 30 threads (depending on the viscosity and characteristics of the conveyed material), with the liquid surface tension compensating for the leakage. The mechanical seal is made with wear-resistant materials and structure, featuring no-run performance.
