Elbows (Reduced Bends) are a type of pipe fitting used for varying pipe diameters. The commonly used forming processes include reduced diameter pressing, expanded diameter pressing, or a combination of both. For certain sizes of reduced bends, stamping forming can also be employed. The reduced/expanded diameter forming process involves placing a pipe blank with a diameter equal to that of the larger end of the elbow into a forming die, then pressing it along the axial direction of the blank to allow the metal to move within the die cavity and shrink into shape. Depending on the degree of diameter change in the reduced bend, it can be formed in a single or multiple pressing steps. Stamping forming In addition to using steel pipes as raw material for elbows, stamping forming can be used to produce elbows of certain sizes using steel plates. The shape of the stamping die used for stretching is designed based on the internal surface dimensions of the elbow, and the steel plate is then stretched into shape using the die after cutting.
