How to Properly Install ABS Pipe

Proper procedures and methods for ABS pipe installation are as follows: Cutting: Measure the length of the required pipe, saw it with a hacksaw, and then file off the inside and outside burrs. Test Fit: First, insert the measured test piece into the straight pipe and mark the position. Cleaning: Wipe the area to be glued with a clean cloth and remove any surface debris. Gluing: Use ABS pipe-specific adhesive for ABS pipe bonding. Apply the adhesive with a brush, first the socket and then the plug. When applying to the socket, pay attention to apply from the inside out. The number of coats can be adjusted according to the pipe size, with an average of two coats. The second coat should be applied quickly after the first, ensuring it is evenly and adequately applied without any missed spots.

Adhesives: After applying the adhesive, complete the bonding process within 20 seconds. During bonding, gently insert the plug into the socket, aligning with the axis. Insert quickly, ensuring the insertion goes beyond the trial insertion mark. During the insertion, you may slightly rotate the plug, but not more than 30 degrees. Do not rotate after fully inserting. Immediately clean any excess adhesive from the joint after bonding.

Curing: New joints should be allowed to cure undisturbed for a specified period after initial bonding to solidify properly. The curing time required is dependent on environmental temperature, but during actual operations, it is crucial to avoid axial twists and forced connections during pipeline installation. Once the pipeline is connected, it is forbidden to climb on it, place ladders on it, or use it for support or any other purpose.

Additionally, ABS pipe bonding should not be conducted in environments with extreme temperatures. The operation area should be kept away from fire sources and avoid impacts and direct sunlight exposure. Usage Time: After the pipe assembly is completed, it should be left to settle for 48 hours before use. For larger pipe diameters, the settling time should be appropriately extended.
