316L stainless steel sheet is an austenitic stainless steel plate with enhanced machinability. Compared to alloy 304, the addition of Mo significantly improves the product's corrosion resistance, particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. 316L can withstand atmospheric corrosion as well as moderate oxidation and reduction environments. It also resists corrosion in polluted marine atmospheres. The alloy exhibits excellent intergranular corrosion resistance in the welded state. Compared to the base alloy 304, it also offers higher creep, tensile, and yield strengths at elevated temperatures. As a fully austenitic steel, it boasts excellent toughness, even at low temperatures.
