Desalination methods include freezing, electrodialysis, distillation, reverse osmosis, and ammonium bicarbonate ion exchange. Currently, the market predominantly uses reverse osmosis membranes and distillation methods.

Seawater reverse osmosis membranes feature high desalination rates, corrosion resistance, high-pressure resistance, and anti-fouling properties. The treated seawater, after reverse osmosis, sees a significant reduction in salt content, with TDS levels dropping from about 36,000 mg/L to around 200 mg/L. The quality of the desalinated water is even superior to tap water, making it suitable for industrial, commercial, residential, and marine applications.
