Desalination methods include sea water freezing, electro dialysis, distillation, reverse osmosis, and ammonium bicarbonate ion exchange. Currently, the market predominantly uses reverse osmosis membrane and distillation methods.

The seawater reverse osmosis membrane boasts high desalination rates, corrosion resistance, high-pressure resistance, and anti-pollution properties. After treatment with the reverse osmosis membrane, the salt content of seawater is significantly reduced, with TDS levels dropping from around 36,000 mg/L to approximately 200 mg/L. The quality of the desalinated water is even superior to tap water, making it suitable for industrial, commercial, residential, and maritime applications.
