What is Industrial Soda Ash

Sodium carbonate has a wide range of applications. It can be categorized into industrial-grade and food-grade sodium carbonate based on its use. It can also be classified as heavy or light sodium carbonate depending on its bulk density. Additionally, it can be divided into common soda and low-sodium soda based on the type of sulfide. It is a white powder with fine crystals. Due to hydrolysis, its aqueous solution is alkaline. Sodium carbonate has a strong hygroscopic property and is prone to deliquescence in moist air. It is available in industrial-grade and food-grade sodium carbonate, as well as in light and heavy sodium carbonate, byproduct soda, finely ground soda, and low-sodium soda, among others.

Glass production is a major consumer of soda ash. Producing one ton of glass requires 0.2 tons of soda ash, primarily used for float glass, optical glass, and others. Soda ash also acts as a clarifier to remove bubbles from the liquid glass.
