A sludge press filter is a filtration equipment that achieves solid-liquid separation through mechanical force, classified as an environmental protection machinery and equipment. It is mainly used for industrial sludge dewatering in industries such as wastewater treatment, papermaking, and food processing.
Diaphragm filter presses have achieved an efficient dewatering filtration process, ensuring the filter press operates at its best filtering capacity, significantly reducing the moisture content of the filter cake. Upon completion of the feeding process, the machine's dewatering efficiency is enhanced by squeezing the filter cake, increasing the dryness of the cake, reducing pollution, and decreasing labor requirements, and in some processes, even eliminating the drying step.
The diaphragm press filter is a pressure filter that incorporates an elastic membrane between the filter plates and filter cloth. During operation, upon completion of the feed, a high-pressure fluid or gas medium can be injected into the diaphragm plate, causing the entire diaphragm to bulge and compress the filter cake, thereby achieving further dewatering of the filter cake, commonly referred to as squeezing filtration.
The plates and frames are arranged alternately, with filter cloth covering both sides of the filter plates. A pressing device is used to tightly secure the plates and frames, thereby forming a pressure filtration chamber between them. A small hole is drilled at the same position at the top center of the plates and frames, which, upon pressing, becomes a passage.
The plate and frame filter press was the first mechanical equipment applied in chemical dehydration. Although typically operated intermittently, requiring significant capital investment in infrastructure, and having lower filtration capacity, it is still widely used in some small wastewater treatment plants due to its advantages such as high filtration driving force, high solid content in the filter cake, clear filtrate, high solid recovery rate, and low consumption of conditioning chemicals.
