Specs

Typical urban road monitoring poles are designed with a height of 6 meters and a horizontal arm of 1 meter, while residential community monitoring poles are commonly made with heights ranging from 3 to 4 meters and arm lengths of 0.8 meters.

Monitor Pole Foundation

1. In the absence of special circumstances, all monitoring pole embedment concrete is C25. The steel reinforcement meets national standards and wind resistance requirements. The cement used is No. 425 ordinary silicate cement. The concrete mix ratio and the smaller amount of cement should comply with the provisions of GBJ204-83; the threads above the embedment foot bolt flange are wrapped well to prevent damage. Place the monitoring pole embedment according to the embedment installation drawing to ensure the extension of the support arm.

2. Ensure the concrete pouring surface of the monitoring pole foundation has a flatness less than 5mm/m, striving to maintain the horizontal alignment of the embedded components. The embedded component flange is 20~30mm below the surrounding ground, and then covered with C25 fine gravel concrete to prevent water accumulation.

Avoiding Landmines

1. The monitoring pole must have a lightning rod and a good grounding system, with the wire recommended to be routed underground away from the pole body. The grounding resistance should be less than 4 ohms; the direction should be perpendicular to the traffic lane (or as required by the engineer), with the base bolts serving as the main reinforcement.

Installation

When poles, control cabinets, cable bends, or cable conduits exceed 50 meters in straight length, or when the ends of the cable conduits are not on the same plane and are more than 100 mm apart, handhole wells must be installed.

2. The inner dimensions of the handhole well are required to be 500mm (length) × 500mm (width) × 600mm (depth), with a layer of gravel laid for drainage purposes; the four walls of the handhole well must be coated with cement sand mortar.

3. The control box is equipped by the equipment manufacturer according to the required capacity. The outer shell is made of cold-rolled steel plate with a thickness of not less than 1.2mm, coated with outdoor plastic powder, and is well-protected against water, theft, and heat dissipation.

Structural steel must not have defects such as cracks, laminations, heavy skin, inclusions, etc., which affect the material and mechanical properties. The depth of any pitting or scratches should not exceed 1/2 of the negative tolerance of the steel thickness, and should not be greater than 0.5mm.

Be mindful during site surveys to prioritize obtaining electricity from traffic signal junctions, streetlight distribution boxes, and larger enterprises or institutions, as this facilitates coordination and enhances the stability of power supply. Minimize the use of electricity from small commercial users, especially for residential purposes.

Surveillance cameras mounted on the roadside, specifically designed to capture the facial features of pedestrians and non-motorized traffic from a reverse angle.

Cameras installed at bus stops should ideally be positioned towards the rear of the vehicle, avoiding the headlights, to facilitate capturing individuals boarding.

Choose an appropriate span length based on the distance between the pole position and the monitoring target, as well as the viewing direction, to prevent the span from being too short and unable to capture suitable monitoring content.
