Product Overview
Standard hard aluminum alloy, good machinability, medium strength 6061 heat-treatable alloy with excellent formability, weldability, and machinability, while maintaining medium strength; retains good operability after annealing.
The primary alloying elements of 6061 aluminum are magnesium and silicon, forming the Mg2Si phase. The presence of certain amounts of manganese and chromium can neutralize the adverse effects of iron; occasionally, a small amount of copper or zinc is added to enhance the alloy's strength without significantly reducing its corrosion resistance; a trace of copper is also included in conductive materials to counteract the negative impact of titanium and iron on conductivity; zirconium or titanium can refine grain size and control recrystallization structures; lead and bismuth can be added to improve machinability. Mg2Si dissolves solidly in aluminum, endowing the alloy with artificial aging hardening properties.
6061-T651 is the primary alloy of the 6061 series, a high-quality aluminum alloy product produced through heat treatment and pre-stretching processes. Although its strength cannot match the 2XXX or 7XXX series, it boasts numerous magnesium and silicon alloy characteristics. It is known for its excellent machinability, superior welding properties, electroplating capabilities, excellent corrosion resistance, high toughness, non-deformation after processing, dense and defect-free material, ease of polishing, and easy application of color films with a good oxidation effect.

6061 is used for aerospace fixations, electrical fixations, and communication fields. It is also extensively applied in automated machinery parts, precision processing, mold manufacturing, electronics and precision instruments, SMT, PC board soldering substrates, etc.
