Product Overview
Aerospace super-hard aluminum alloy, with high strength and good wear resistance. 7A04 belongs to the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series of ultra-high strength aluminum alloys, also known as super-hard aluminum. It is a relatively mature and widely used alloy in the super-hard aluminum category. It boasts high strength, excellent heat treatment strengthening effects, and moderate plasticity in both annealed and newly quenched states. Unlike hard aluminum, it has better corrosion resistance in artificial aging than in natural aging, and the natural aging process is slower, reaching the peak aging hardening after 3 months. Therefore, 7A04 is used in quenched and artificially aged condition. Its drawback is low organizational stability, low low-frequency fatigue strength, and a tendency to experience stress corrosion cracking. The alloy has good spot welding properties, poor gas welding, good machinability after heat treatment, but poor machinability after annealing.
Product Application
7A04 is primarily used for manufacturing aircraft structures and other high-strength, corrosion-resistant, and high-stress components, such as upper and lower wing surface panels, trusses, etc. It exhibits good plasticity after solution heat treatment and excellent heat treatment strengthening. It maintains good strength below 150 degrees Celsius and exceptional low-temperature strength. However, it has poor welding properties and a tendency to crack due to stress corrosion. It is also widely used in mold making, machinery and equipment, fixtures, aerospace and aviation industries, blow molding (bottle) molds, ultrasonic welding molds, golf ball heads, shoe molds, paper-plastic molds, foam molding molds, paraffin molds, machinery and equipment, and for producing high-end aluminum alloy bicycle frames.
