Relay Function and Classification in Non-Digging Tunneling

Intermediate chambers are an indispensable piece of equipment in long-distance pipe jacking. During pipe jacking construction, by adding intermediate chambers, the originally required long-distance pipe segments of several hundred or even several thousand meters can be divided into several short sections for separate jacking.

      During the pipe jacking construction process, if the main jacking cylinder's great thrust in the excavation pit cannot lift the pipe into the receiving well, a relay chamber must be installed at a certain location along this section of pipe. First, use the relay chamber to push the pipe and jacking machine forward a distance (usually about one stroke of the relay cylinder); then, use the main jacking cylinder to close the relay chamber. Next, repeat the above actions, pushing the originally one-time-jacked pipe in two sections.

      If the distance is too long, splitting it into two sections is still insufficient. An additional relay station can be installed at a certain section behind a relay station, dividing the entire pipeline into three sections for support.
