Project Description:

Hydroelectric power utilizes the potential energy of flowing water from high to low elevations, such as rivers and lakes, converting it into the kinetic energy of a turbine. This turbine then powers a generator to produce electrical energy. Water's kinetic energy is harnessed to rotate a hydroelectric turbine, transforming it into mechanical energy. By attaching a generator to the turbine, electrical energy is produced as the mechanical energy is converted. In essence, hydroelectric power is the process of converting water's potential energy into mechanical energy, which is then transformed into electrical energy. Since the voltage generated by hydroelectric power plants is low, it must be increased through transformers and transmitted over overhead power lines to a substation in the user concentration area. There, the voltage is stepped down to a level suitable for household and industrial electrical equipment, and then distributed via distribution lines to various factories and homes.
