Project Description:
Hydroelectric power harnesses the potential energy of water flowing from high to low elevations, such as rivers and lakes, converting this energy into kinetic energy for turbines. This kinetic energy then powers generators to produce electrical energy. By utilizing the water head to drive hydraulic machinery (turbines), water energy is transformed into mechanical energy. If a generator is connected to the turbine, it can generate electricity as the turbine rotates, converting mechanical energy back into electrical energy. In a sense, hydroelectric power is the process of converting water's potential energy into mechanical energy, which is then transformed into electrical energy. Since the voltage generated by hydroelectric power plants is relatively low, it must be increased by transformers for transmission to distant users. The voltage is then elevated via overhead transmission lines to the substation in the user concentration area, where it is stepped down to a voltage suitable for residential and industrial electrical equipment, and finally distributed to individual factories and homes through distribution lines.
