Why do some floors show pinholes and bubbles shortly after the application of epoxy floor paint, which is typically smooth and glossy? Moreover, why do some floors exhibit pinholes over time, even after the paint has dried? How can an epoxy floor material manufacturer prevent pinholes during the application of epoxy floor paint? What are the causes behind this phenomenon?
Causes for Formation:
Poor sandblasting can lead to shrinkage holes.
2. Contamination of the surface with wax or grease can also cause pinholes in the floor paint coating.
During the application of floor coatings, an excessive amount of moisture or oil-like substances in the compressed air used can also cause pinholes in the epoxy floor paint film.
4. Contamination at the floor paint construction site (such as dust, water droplets, or oil, etc.) can also cause pinhole defects.
Solution:
1. Increased thickness of the wetland paint film
Wetland floor paint film is prone to contamination by particles with low surface tension. If the floor paint film is thick enough, there will be no noticeable shrinkage voids. However, if the floor paint film is thin and there is no additional floor paint applied at the bottom, shrinkage voids may form.
2. Increased wet paint film viscosity
If the viscosity of the wet paint film is increased to prevent paint flow, even with the possibility of pinholes, pinholes will not occur. Therefore, adding a thixotropic agent can enhance the viscosity of the wet paint film and also prevent pinholes.
