May 15, 2025, the "CCTV News Live" program on China Central Television highlighted the naming and maiden voyage of the largest photovoltaic energy + LNG dual-fuel car carrier, COSCO Shipping's "Yuanhaikou," in Nansha, Guangzhou, with the title "The Maiden Voyage of the 'Yuanhaikou'! Unveiling Green Shipping Intelligent Technology." Notably, this "green shipping benchmark ship" is equipped with an independently developed containerized plant factory system by Anhui Angkefeng Photoelectric Technology, creating an "oceanic happy farm" for the crew, making it one of the technological highlights of this maiden voyage.

As the first Chinese vessel fully compliant with the domestically formulated "Technical Guidelines for Safe Roll-on/Roll-off Transportation of New Energy Vehicles," the "Yuan Haikou" is attracting attention for its robust capabilities: measuring 199.9 meters in length, with a gross tonnage of 68,252 and a displacement of 39,069 tons, it features 12 levels of vehicle decks (8 fixed and 4 mobile), capable of carrying all types of vehicles and MAFI cargo; equipped with an advanced LNG dual-fuel main engine, it reduces energy consumption by 20% and carbon emissions by 27% compared to traditional fuel ships, with nitrogen oxides, sulfur compounds, and PM particles emissions reduced by 30%, 99%, and over 90% respectively; it is fitted with a 302.8 kW distributed photovoltaic grid connection system (the largest of its kind on similar vessels), generating 410,000 kWh annually, saving 111 tons of fuel and reducing CO2 emissions by 345.9 tons (equivalent to planting 38,000 trees annually); during port calls, it uses shore power 100% of the time, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 21 tons daily; it is also equipped with the first intelligent real-time loading software in China, achieving precise "one vehicle, one code, one position" management, significantly enhancing emergency response efficiency.

Beyond these green shipping technologies, the most heartwarming innovation of the "Yuanhaokou" is the maritime "Happy Farm" constructed using the Anhui Angkefeng Container Plant Factory technology. As a leading company in the domestic plant factory sector, Anhui Angkefeng has customized an intelligent vegetable planting container system for long-distance voyages. This "maritime plant factory" utilizes self-developed environmental control technology to precisely regulate temperature and humidity, light intensity, and nutrient supply, enabling efficient cultivation of leafy vegetables and herbs within a limited space. The system, designed with a modular approach, can produce up to 10-15 kilograms of fresh vegetables per container per day, fully meeting the daily needs of the crew.
