Stone wool board, also known as thermal insulation and decorative stone wool board, is an inorganic fiberboard made from basalt through high-temperature melting processing. The trial production of stone wool board was successfully conducted in June 1981. Stone wool board is a new type of insulation, fire-retardant, and sound-absorbing material.
Rockwool board features
Fire-resistant
Exterior rock wool boards are made from natural volcanic rock, a non-combustible building material and fire-resistant material.
Primary fire-resistant features:
⚪ Class A1 high fire rating, effectively preventing the spread of fire.
Size is extremely stable, will not expand, contract, or deform in fires.
High-temperature resistant, melting point above 1000°C.
No smoke or burning droplets/particles produced in fire.
The product will not release harmful environmental substances and gases in case of fire.
Insulation and thermal preservation
The exterior rock wool board features fine, long, and flexible fibers with low slag content. Consequently, it boasts a low thermal conductivity and excellent insulation properties.
Acoustic noise reduction
Rockwool is an ideal soundproofing material; its large number of fine, elongated fibers form a porous interconnected structure, determining that Sichada Rockwool is an excellent sound-absorbing and noise-reduction material.
Hydrophobic
Water-repellent rock wool products can achieve a water-repellent rate of up to 99.9%; low water absorption, no capillary penetration.
Moisture resistance properties
Rockwool has a moisture absorption rate of less than 0.2% in a high humidity environment. The quality absorption rate is less than 0.3% as tested according to ASTM C1104 or ASTM 1104M methods.
Non-corrosive
Rock wool has stable chemical properties with a pH value of 7-8, neutral to slightly alkaline, suitable for carbon steel and stainless steel.
All metals such as aluminum are free from corrosion.
Safety, environmental protection
Rockwool is free of asbestos and harmful environmental substances such as CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs. It is not prone to corrosion, mold, or bacterial growth.
