Stone wool board, also known as thermal insulation and decorative stone wool board, is an inorganic fiber board made from basalt as the main raw material, processed through high-temperature melting. It was successfully tested in June 1981. Stone wool board is a new type of insulation, fire-retardant, and sound-absorbing material.
Rockwool Board Features
Fire-resistant
The raw material for the exterior rock wool board is natural volcanic rock, making it an inflammable building material and fireproofing material.
Primary fire-resistant features:
✦ Offers high fire resistance rating A1, effectively preventing the spread of fire.
○ The size is extremely stable, it will not elongate, shrink, or deform in a fire.
High-temperature resistance, melting point over 1000°C.
No smoke or burning droplets/particles produced in fire.
The product will not release harmful environmental substances and gases in case of fire.
Thermal insulation
The exterior rock wool board features fine, long, and flexible fibers with low slag content. Consequently, it boasts a low thermal conductivity and excellent insulation properties.
Acoustic noise reduction
Rock wool is an ideal soundproofing material, with a large number of slender fibers forming a porous interconnected structure, determining that Schottrock wool is an effective sound absorption and noise reduction material.
Hydrophobic
Water-repellent rock wool products can achieve a water-repellency rate of up to 99.9%; they have low water absorption and no capillary penetration.
Moisture resistance properties
Rock wool has a moisture absorption rate of less than 0.2% in environments with high relative humidity. The moisture absorption rate is less than 0.3% when tested according to the ASTM C1104 or ASTM 1104M method.
Non-corrosive
Rockwool has stable chemical properties with a pH value of 7-8, neutral or slightly alkaline, and is suitable for carbon steel, stainless steel,
All metal materials such as aluminum are free of corrosion.
Safety & Environmental Protection
Rock wool is free from asbestos and harmful substances like CFCs, HFCs, and HCFCs to the environment. It is not corroded or prone to mold and bacterial growth.
