Stone wool board, also known as thermal insulation and decorative stone wool board, is an inorganic fiber board made from basalt, processed through high-temperature melting. The first trial production of stone wool board was successfully completed in June 1981. It is a new type of material for thermal insulation, fireproofing, and sound absorption.
Rockwool board features
Fire-resistant
The raw material for the external wall mineral wool board is natural volcanic rock, making it an non-combustible building material and fire-resistant material.
Primary fire-resistant features:
⚪ Has a high fire rating of A1, effectively preventing the spread of fire.
The size is extremely stable; it will not elongate, contract, or deform in a fire.
High-temperature resistant, melting point above 1000°C.
No smoke or burning droplets/particles produced in fire.
No harmful environmental substances or gases are released in case of fire.
Thermal Insulation
The exterior rock wool board features fine, long, and flexible fibers with low slag content. Consequently, it has a low thermal conductivity and excellent insulation properties.
Sound Absorption and Noise Reduction
Rock wool is an ideal soundproofing material, with a large number of slender fibers forming a porous interconnected structure, determining that Sichada rock wool is an excellent sound absorption and noise reduction material.
Hydrophobic
Water-repellent rock wool products can achieve a water-repellency rate of up to 99.9%; low water absorption, no capillary penetration.
Moisture resistance properties
Rock wool has a moisture absorption rate of less than 0.2% in environments with high relative humidity. The quality absorption rate is less than 0.3% when tested according to the ASTM C1104 or ASTM 1104M method.
Non-corrosive
Rock wool has stable chemical properties with a pH value of 7-8, neutral or slightly alkaline, suitable for carbon steel and stainless steel.
Aluminum and other metal materials are all non-corrosive.
Safety & Environmental Protection
Rock wool is tested to be free of asbestos and environmentally harmful substances such as CFCs, HFCs, and HCFCs. It is not corroded or prone to mold and bacterial growth.
