Noise control engineering is a comprehensive field, primarily encompassing three major aspects: identification and control of noise sources, blocking the pathways of noise propagation, and protection of noise reception points. Specific tasks include noise reduction for industrial equipment, transportation facilities, and construction sites, such as installing mufflers and soundproof enclosures; soundproofing and sound-absorbing design for noise pathways, like setting up sound barriers and soundproof walls; and implementing protective measures in sensitive noise areas such as residential zones and schools, such as installing soundproof windows and planting soundproof green belts. Additionally, it also includes noise monitoring and assessment, as well as the formulation and enforcement of noise standards.
