Santoprene Overview
Santoprene ® Thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) is a mature solution serving diverse and demanding markets such as automotive, construction and engineering, industrial, and consumer goods.
What is Shandu Ping ® Thermoplastic vulcanized elastomer?
In June 2021, Serenis acquired Yamato Ping from ExxonMobil ® The TPV brand, as part of a broad TPV product portfolio. This acquisition expands our unparalleled engineering materialsThe material solution has enhanced our selection of elastomers. Santoprene ®Thermoplastic vulcanized elastomer
Santoprene ® Thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) was born over 40 years ago, originating from a simple concept of developing a ready to use material that behaves similar to rubber but is processed similarly to thermoplastic. As a truly revolutionary product, it quickly became a recognized industry standard for TPV. Compared to materials such as EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber) or other thermosetting rubber (TSR), Yamato Ping ® TPV has the following advantages:
Reduce the total system cost by simplifying manufacturing
Realize lightweighting through component redesign
The recycling potential during the processing and at the end of the service life
Santoprene ® Thermoplastic vulcanizate is a truly revolutionary material that has been highly successful in many industries.

Santoprene ® The main use of TPV:
Automotive and electric vehicle (EV) seals and under hood components
Cooling system pipes and hoses for automotive and electric vehicle batteries
consumer goods
Electrical insulation and sheath
Food and portable product applications (FDA and NSF grades)
Industrial parts and applications
Petroleum, natural gas, and mining applications
Cooling system components for renewable energy wind turbines

Why choose Shandu Ping ® Thermoplastic vulcanized elastomer?
Compared to materials such as EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) or other thermosetting rubbers, Yamato Ping ® Thermoplastic vulcanizate elastomers (TPVs) can significantly simplify manufacturing, thereby reducing overall system costs. Santoprene ® Thermoplastic vulcanized elastomers also reduce weight by redesigning parts during the conversion phase and recycling during the process, and have the potential for recycling at the end of their service life.

Sustainable Development of Serenis
Compared to conventional Yamato Ping TPVs, Yamato Ping ®® The TPV ECO-R grade is made from at least 15% post consumer recycled (PCR) materials, which can enhance lifecycle impact while providing an optimized balance of performance and cost-effectiveness for many applications, including automotive components such as weather resistant seals. Compared with EPDM rubber, Shandu Ping ® TPV can reduce the weight of parts, thereby achieving fuel economy advantages throughout the entire lifecycle of the parts.
In addition, Shandu Ping ® TPV production waste can be reworked to reduce production related waste, resulting in an estimated 59% reduction in the carbon footprint of parts compared to EPDM alternatives
