DuPont™ Hytrel®7246
Hytrel ® The common characteristics of thermoplastic polyester elastomers include mechanical and physical properties, such as excellent toughness and elasticity, high creep resistance, impact and fatigue resistance, low-temperature flexibility, and maintaining good performance at high temperatures. In addition, it is also resistant to many industrial chemicals, oils, and solvents. Special grades include heat stabilizers, flame retardants, food contact grade, blow molding grade, and extrusion grade. The provided concentrates include black pigments, UV protection additives, heat stabilizers, and flame retardants. Hytrel ® Thermoplastic polyester elastomers do not contain plasticizers.
Hytrel ® Thermoplastic polyester elastomers have good melt stability and can usually recycle appropriately processed production waste. DuPont suggests that if recycling is not possible, incineration and energy recovery (-24 kJ/g base polymer) should be carried out in facilities equipped with appropriate equipment as a solution. For disposal, local regulations must be followed.
Hytrel ® Thermoplastic polyester elastomers are commonly used in demanding applications in the automotive, fluid power, electrical/electronics, consumer goods, appliances and power tools, sports goods, furniture, industrial, and off-road transportation/equipment industries.
Hytrel ® 7246 is a high modulus grade with a nominal hardness of 72D, containing non fading stabilizers, and can be processed using many traditional thermoplastic processing techniques such as injection molding and extrusion.
The 72 Shore D hardness is calculated based on traditional methods and is still used for grade identification.
Typical applications: oil pipes, wire and cable conduits, gears and sprockets, oilfield components.
