Bakelite is a hard insulating material made by impregnating cotton cloth/paper with phenolic resin and then undergoing high-temperature and high-pressure lamination. As the first (1907) synthetic plastic to be industrialized, it continues to play an indispensable role in electrical and mechanical fields to this day.
