The friction pad bears the full weight of the wire rope, the container's own weight, the cargo weight, the tail rope's balancing weight, and various dynamic and impact loads during operation. The hoist relies on the friction between the wire rope and the pad to transmit power. If the coefficient of friction between them is too low, the hoist will slip, causing rapid overwind, potentially leading to the wire rope being pulled apart, the lifting container falling to the bottom of the well, and other accidents. Given the critical role of the friction pad, it is required to have sufficient compressive strength and a sufficiently high coefficient of friction with the wire rope to prevent slippage during the lifting process.
