IECEx member states' certification bodies recognized and authorized by the IECEx system are referred to as IECEx Certified Bodies (ExCB). Only ExCBs are authorized to conduct IECEx system explosion-proof product certification.
ExCB undertakes the following certification tasks:
Accept IECEx certification applications.
2. Organize explosion-proof testing laboratories (ExTL) to conduct explosion-proof type testing on the products applying for certification (including explosion-proof review of technical drawings and documents, as well as sample machine testing).
3. Review Explosion Proof Report (ExTR)
4. Conduct factory quality condition inspections for manufacturers applying for certification, compile and review the factory quality condition report (QAR).
5. Make the decision on certification.
6. Contact the IECEx Secretariat for issuance of IECEx certification.

What are ATEX certification and IECEx certification?
ATEX is the EU's防爆指令 under the CE marking, and all explosion-proof products used in explosive hazardous areas in the EU market must obtain ATEX certification.
It is mandatory, with the certification standards being the EN60079 series.
IECEx certification is an international explosion-proof certification applicable to member countries of the IECEx system. Some member countries directly recognize the IECEx certification.
For instance, New Zealand and Australia; some member states can convert their IECEx certification to local explosion-proof certifications.
For instance, China is also a member of the IECEx system.
But China has its own explosion-proof certification system, which is implemented according to GB/T3836.
Therefore, products with IECEx certification still need to be converted to domestic explosion-proof certification before they can be put into use.
