Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage tanks come in various types, such as compressed gas or liquefied gas tanks. They can be categorized into fixed-volume and variable-volume tanks based on their capacity changes. Large fixed-volume LPG storage tanks are typically spherical, while smaller ones are cylindrical. Variable-volume tanks, also known as low-pressure gas storage tanks or simply gas holders, can alter their geometric volume. They are sealed tightly to prevent leaks, and they serve to balance air pressure and regulate gas supply. The pressure usually does not exceed 60 MPa.
Liquefied gas storage tanks undergo stringent quality assessments for the material of pressure components, dimensions, weld quality, operational quality, installation quality, internal fittings, and safety accessories.
Routine physical and chemical testing of the drum material, such as mechanical properties and chemical composition.
The welding joints, welds, tank end caps, and the mutual geometric positions of all pressure elements are rigorously inspected via X-ray non-destructive testing and magnetic particle inspection. Tests are conducted on the product's sealing, pressure resistance, and all technical indicators that could affect the safe operation of the product.
Handling Instructions
1. Cylinders must be stored in well-ventilated areas, with a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from any fire or heat source. Cylinders should never be heated with fire, boiled, or left exposed to direct sunlight. Regular inspections of cylinder valves and pipeline joints for air tightness are required to ensure no leaks. Typically, soap water is used to check for leaks, and it is strictly prohibited to test for leaks using open flames.
2. When igniting, always light the primer first, followed by opening the gas supply; do not reverse this order. Always have someone supervising during use, and do not leave the area to prevent boiling water from spilling and extinguishing the flame, which could lead to a gas leak and explosion. After using the gas cylinder, make sure to tightly close the valve to prevent any gas leaks.
3. The liquefied gas in the cylinder should not be completely exhausted; a certain residual pressure should be maintained. The residual pressure should generally be greater than 49.03 kPa (i.e., 0.5 kg/cm², gauge pressure) to prevent air from entering the cylinder. After the liquefied petroleum gas is used up, the remaining residue in the cylinder is also a flammable substance and should not be poured out arbitrarily to prevent fires caused by the leakage and evaporation of the residue.
4、Liquefied Petroleum GasGas cylinders are pressurized containers that require proper maintenance and regular inspections. They must be handled to prevent falls or impacts, and it is forbidden to use metal tools to敲击 open the valve. They should be protected from direct sunlight and prolonged exposure to rain. Gas cylinders are typically inspected every 2 years.
5、PetroleumThe explosive range of liquefied gas is not very wide, but due to its low limit, it is easily ignited and explodes upon leakage. Also, as LPG is heavier than air, it tends to flow downward when leaking into the air, accumulating in low-lying areas and posing a hidden danger of gas explosions. Therefore, in areas where gas is prone to leakage, relying solely on window ventilation is insufficient; attention must also be given to the lower ventilation.
6. When液化 gas leakage is detected indoors, promptly open windows and doors for ventilation, allowing it to disperse towards a direction without open flames. It is strictly prohibited to ignite anything nearby. Only after the fault is resolved and the distinctive odor has dissipated can the space be used again. For waste liquid leaked on the ground, cover it with sand and soil before disposing of it to a safe location. In case of a gas cylinder fire, immediately close the valve, move it to an open area outdoors, and extinguish the fire using dry powder extinguishers, CO2 extinguishers, or by covering it with a wet sack.
7. Educate children not to tamper with gas cylinders carelessly, and users must be aware of the safety knowledge for using gas cylinders.
