Fiberglass Storage Tank Performance Features
Physical Properties: The specific gravity of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) is typically 1.8-2.1, which is 1/4 to 1/5 of steel, and its specific strength is higher than that of steel, cast iron, and plastic. The coefficient of thermal expansion of GFRP is roughly equivalent to that of steel, while its thermal conductivity is only 0.5% of steel's.
Fiberglass storage tanks feature the following characteristics:
1. Lightweight and High-Strength: With a relative density between 1.5~2.0, it is only 1/4~1/5 of carbon steel, yet its tensile strength is nearly equal, and even exceeds carbon steel, with a specific strength that can rival advanced alloy steel.
2. Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Offers good resistance to atmospheric conditions, water, and general concentrations of acids, bases, salts, as well as various oils and solvents.
3. Excellent electrical properties: Suitable for manufacturing insulators.
4. Excellent thermal performance: The thermal conductivity of glass fiber reinforced plastic is low, at 1.25~1.67 kJ/(m·h·K) at room temperature, which is only 1/100~1/1000 of metal, making it an excellent insulating material.
5. Excellent processability: Can flexibly choose molding processes based on product shape, technical requirements, and usage; simple process allows for one-time molding, with prominent economic benefits.
